The training activities will take place at the Flying Eye Hospital, which is presently stationed at the Can Tho International Airport, as well as at two partner hospitals: Can Tho Maxillo Dental and Eye Hospital and Can Tho Children Hospital.ĭuring the first week of the project, the participants will undergo simulation training, which will help them to gain confidence in a training environment before moving on to actual surgeries, leading to better patient care. Participants of this program will undergo skill development through a combination of hands-on training and simulation, in addition to customized virtual learning courses before the Flying Eye Hospital arrives in Vietnam. The current training project on the Flying Eye Hospital in Vietnam marks the 12th such program held in the country, including a virtual project on Cybersight, Orbis's telemedicine platform. The goal of the training is to enhance their skills in treating the primary causes of blindness and visual impairment in their communities. The program will include ophthalmologists, nurses, biomedical engineers, and anesthesiologists from the Can Tho region. Over the course of three weeks, Orbis's clinical staff and Volunteer Faculty, consisting of medical experts, will provide in-person, hands-on training to a group of 52 eye care professionals. Orbis International, with the generous support of FedEx, is set to launch its first surgical program since 2020 aboard the Flying Eye Hospital - a fully accredited ophthalmic teaching hospital located on board a plane.
